Our Textile group meets on Monday afternoons every fortnight at 1:30 until 3:30 at a members house. Our last meeting on the 5th October was very productive, we admired each others work and discussed future projects and ideas. You can see below what we got up to in the photos below.
I took along my Janome Embellisher for some work I was undertaking and gave a short demo on how easy it was to use before letting the others have a go. They were surprised at how easy it was to use and discussed it numerous possibilities. We persuaded Rose to try putting her tree trunk on using the machine to give another textured effect to her work; she were delighted to see the end result.
Mike, our only male member (we would like to have more men join us) was using the sewing machine to create a bag to hold parts for his weaving loom. Yes…Mike has been learning how to weave fabric and he’s very good. So far he has made pieces of fabric ready to be made into a bag and also a piece suitable for a waistcoat to be made up by his wife Sue and a length suitable for a scarf …what will he attempt next!!
Rose showed her latest quilt the last time we met we were all discussing colours and their arrangements and now a fortnight later a beautiful quilt has emerged and is nearly finish but for its boarder.
Sue has been busy knitting children’s jumpers and now she is stitching Christmas cards for her relatives in Germany.
Myself, Christine, well I’m busy finishing a large wet felted piece and starting another….I will up load them next time.
We would welcome any new members …male or female…to come along and join our group , whether a beginner or you have some sewing skills its the enthusiasm and a creative heart that is required. Get in touch via the website or come and talk to use at our weekly Thursday coffee mornings.
Our next meeting is on the 19th October.
